A Fairytale Wedding at The Westglow Resort and Spa | Amanda and Matt

Amanda and Matt say it was love at first sight for the two of them. They were introduced through mutual friends and dated for a year and a half before tying the knot. From the very early stages of dating, they knew that their relationship was "the one." Bride Amanda says, " Prior to meeting, we both had made commitments with the Lord, and with ourselves, to work on becoming the 'right' person, versus exhausting ourselves over searching for the 'right' person.  In turn,  I think we’d both agree that this relationship felt like it fell in our laps and it felt God-sent from the very beginning."

Inspiration + Theme

In planning for their special day, the couple wanted to incorporate an outdoor, garden-party theme - something relaxed, airy, elegant and fun. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Westglow Resort and Spa was their venue of choice - offering both southern elegance and charm. Guests would also enjoy the relaxed outdoor setting where they could let their hair down, relax and dance the night away with no inhibitions.

In keeping with the garden-party theme, the flowers were very important - the more coral peonies, the better! The bridal party dressed in neutral tones and the reception decor was very soft in color, so that the flowers would have a fun and vibrant contrast that gave that extra “pop." The couple chose farm tables to enhance the rustic vibe they desired, while adding gold Chivari chairs, glass chargers with golden borders, golden couture flatware, mercury glass votives, and a beautiful crystal chandelier to bring out the classy and elegant vibe they wanted to equally incorporate.

Wedding Details

Amanda and Matt were married on the West Portico lawn at Westglow Resort and Spa, just beneath the stair steps, which were adorned with ornate gold and mirrored lanterns, and dusted with hues of pink, coral, and white rose petals. Family and friends were seated underneath the large, white pillars of the mansion, giving off a majestic, old world charm. In the distance, were views of Grandfather Mountain stretched beautifully across the gorgeous blue, sunshine-filled sky. The couple stood beneath a rustic archway decorated with elegant floral bouquets, similar to those carried by the wedding party.

During the ceremony, they exchanged vows written for one another. "The vows gave a personal and meaningful touch to such a special moment in our lives, and left not one dry eye in the crowd," says Bride Amanda. The couples' vows were written in personalized vow books from Etsy shop, DefineDesign11.

As the ceremony concluded, guests were invited inside the mansion, where the sounds of the piano and violin swept playfully through the Parlor Room, to enjoy cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres featuring crab cakes with a lemon herb aioli, heirloom tomato and parmesan bruschetta, and artisan cheeses with accompaniments.

The night concluded with a tented reception on the Courtyard, inviting guests to partake in a garden party atmosphere with 360 degree views of cascading mountains. Eucalyptus and florals stretched daintily across farm tables, as mercury glass votive candles lit up the night sky. Guests were invited to indulge in a delicious dinner including lowcountry shrimp and grits, springer mountain chicken with summer vegetable succotash in a lemon herb vinaigrette, grilled beef tenderloin with horseradish cream sauce and accompanied rolls, garlic mashed potatoes, and a marinated grilled vegetable platter. Their place settings welcomed the tastes of the South with glass chargers bordered in gold accents and nestled between golden couture flatware.

A crystal chandelier illuminated the dance floor enticing guests to show off their best moves.

As everyone danced the night away, many guests began noticing the “red moon,” or sometimes termed, “the blood moon,” in the distance.  This was an amazing and beautiful moment for all.

In Conclusion

The bride and groom bid farewell with a sparkler exit where they stopped for a kiss under the golden glow before Matt picked up his bride and whisked her away into the mansion, where they spent the night in Westglow’s Grand Master Suite.
