A Magical and Timeless Winter Wedding at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club | Mac + Molly

While we are gearing up for the heat of summer here in the middle of a beautiful wedding season, we started to think about wedding planning for different seasons. While we are currently nearing the end of Spring, some of you are likely planning your Fall and Winter weddings. On that note, we are so excited to share this gorgeous Indiana Winter wedding with you.

Winter weddings are SO romantic, and even a little magical. This is why we LOVE them! With Christmas spirit all around, you can have one of the most romantic and most joyful weddings than during any other time of the year (in our opinion, that is). Christmas is everybody’s favorite time of year, right?

Featured wedding couple, Mac and Molly, chose to have their gorgeous Christmas wedding at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club property located in Fishers, Indiana. The property and interior design at the Hawthorns immediately captivated the bride and groom’s interest in the venue. From the moment they first visited, they envisioned their Christmas wedding being at the Hawthorns.

Mac + Molly

This beautiful and happy couple met while attending college at Indiana Wesleyan University. Mac always had eyes for Molly since they first met, but they remained friends until he moved to South Carolina to continue his education in receiving his doctorate. Weeks after he moved from Indiana to South Carolina, Molly came to visit. A plane ticket and one weekend together confirmed their relationship was more than just friends and would soon transition from best friends to soul mates. They continued to pursue a long-distance relationship until Molly graduated from college. At last, they purchased a one-way plane ticket and the long distance was over.

Fast forward to today: They are loving being married and now have the most beautiful baby boy, Noah.

Wedding Day Details

Mac and Molly chose to go with a simple color scheme: a white and gold color palette with some greenery thrown in. We absolutely love this combo for winter or even outdoor weddings. This palette works with any type of venue and can work well for multiple seasons. This is such a timeless, clean cut color combination. Part of this greenery included beautiful eucalyptus flower girl crowns and a bridal bouquet by Bokay Florist from Indianapolis. The bridesmaids wore gold Badgley Mischka sequin gown bridesmaid dresses to bring more of the gold & sparkle into the day.

The couple also had God's Knot as a component of their wedding ceremony. The God’s Knot is a Cord of 3 Strands Unity Braid - centered around the Bible verse, Ecclesiastes 4:12 "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken," this symbolizes the joining of one man, one woman, and God into a marriage relationship. Two Christians seeking Christ together are stronger than individuals themselves. The purple strand represents the groom and his life, the white strand represents the bride and her life, and the gold strand represents God who has given the gift of love. The braiding of the strands demonstrates we desire God to be at the center of our marriage and be woven into every aspect of it.

Favorite Moments of the Wedding Day

Groom Mac: "My favorite moment of the big day was our first dance. In the moment after we were pronounced husband and wife, an overwhelming feeling of excitement overcame me knowing that we were officially husband and wife."

Bride Molly: "My favorite moment of the day was shortly after being pronounced husband and wife but before the reception;  during the cocktail hour, we escaped outside for our first moment as husband and wife. We danced outside together away from the chaos."
