Southwest to the Rescue! Airline Flies Forgotten Bridesmaids Dress To Costa Rica

Southwest Airlines

Passport? Check. Sunscreen? Check. Dress for the Wedding? Uh-oh.

Grayleigh Oppermann arrived in Costa Rica, she was more than excited to be a bridesmaid in her sister’s wedding, especially after a crazy week of taking care of one of her kids who had come down with the flu. However; excitement turned into anxiety when Grayleigh realized she had left her dress at the alteration shop back in her home state of Texas.

“This is my sister’s wedding. I can’t even imagine … I was just sick to my stomach.”

A friend of Grayleigh’s, Taylor Kenney, took action and went to Twitter, asking Southwest Airlines if there was anything that could be done. Surprisingly, the airline answered saying “We like where your head is at.”

After some back and forth messages, not one but two dresses (because why not), were on a plane and headed for Costa Rica.

Southwest continued to post Twitter updates on the dresses journey until Operation #RescuetheDress was complete! Even making sure to get an image of Grayleigh wearing the dress at the wedding.

When asked to comment on the story, Southwest replied to Today stating:

“When we saw the call for help on Twitter @southwestair, we knew we had to say yes to the dress,” a representative for the airline said. “This bridesmaid story has a happy ending, and we’re thrilled to play a part in making this special day a success. Cheers to the happy couple — and one relieved bridesmaid — from the LUV airline!”
