Naylor Hall: Bringing Light to Others Day with a Drive-Thru Wedding by Abbey Fitzgerald
This has certainly been a trying time for small business especially those of us in the wedding industry. At Naylor Hall, the owner of the venue and wedding expert, Sunny Bailey, and I have been dedicated to finding the good and spreading some love and joy anyway that we can. We believe situations like this are a chance to step up and be the much-needed light in someone's day! While paying attention to the news and staying well informed enough to know how to be safe and protect others is the most important thing right now, we all still need a little good news and optimism in our day.
In this time where so many couples are having to make the tough decision to postpone their wedding, we've found that a lot of them would still like to have a small intimate ceremony and get married on their originally intended date. We called one of our couples planning a vow renewal and asked if they would be interested in doing something a little different, a drive-thru wedding! We enlisted the help of some local Roswell, GA business owners to help out. One of them, Ryan Pernice, is a local restaurant owner and officiant. The other, Pat Rains, owns a local brewery nearby and provided beers for the couple to toast with.
These are just a few of the main reasons that we decided to perform our drive-thru vow renewal.
- Promote the local small business owners on Canton Street that are the hardest hit. Ryan Pernice from Osteria Mattone, Pat Rains from Gate City Brewing are two of the most generous business owners in Roswell. These guys are the true heroes in the community, and I am happy to stand alongside them on this project.
- We need to laugh more right now! How can you watch this video and not smile when Ryan presents chicken, and Pat offers a beer toast?
- Who knows, maybe we have a new business model- Ha!
During this time, we have also given away lots of flower arrangements, bottles of wine and champagne, toilet paper, and whatever else we feel would bring a smile to someone’s face. All while practicing social distancing and proper sanitizing and disinfecting measures. For our wedding on March 28th, we made her a bouquet (we tried to duplicate the one the florist was planning) and took them champagne and a hand-written note expressing our appreciation for them. It was a small thing, but it filled our hearts with love and hope and the couple enjoyed it too.
