Unforgettable Farewells: 8 Unique Wedding Exit Ideas

Unforgettable Farewells: 8 Unique Wedding Exit Ideas

Rice, bubbles, and sparklers have dominated the wedding exit scene for years—and while these choices are nice, they are quickly finding their place in the “overdone” category.

Looking for a more personal way to say  “adieu”? Read on for some memorable wedding exit ideas as unique as your love story.

Why Ditch the Rice? Perks of a Unique Wedding Exit

Rice? Not great for the environment. Sparklers? A tad dangerous. Bubbles? So last year! By switching it up, you can:

- Adapt the exit to your unique personality and style.
- Create more memorable last impressions for guests.
- Stage some pretty spectacular (Instagram-able) photos and videos.
- Add an extra layer of joy and excitement to the end of the night.
- And maybe even help protect the environment.

Out-of-the-Box Wedding Exist

1. Glow Sticks or Fiber Optic Wands.

Imagine running through a vibrant sea of light (and color, if you so choose). Like sparklers, they create fabulous evening photos, but they are much safer. Plus, guests can take them home afterward as a small memento.

2. Lantern Release

Sweet, elegant, and symbolic, white sky lanterns are visually stunning—and definitely memorable. Creating a magical glow, the release of lanterns flawlessly represents your new beginning as a married couple.

3. Lightsabers

Calling all “Star Wars” enthusiasts? This one’s for you. Essentially oversized glow sticks, a tunnel of colorful lightsabers is an epic way to top off an already memorable event. And through companies like 4imprint and Extreme Glow, you can even customize your sabers with your names, leaving your guests with a fun party favor.

4. Mini Beach Balls

Having an outdoor or beach wedding? Grab a bulk pack of tiny beach balls (monogrammed, if you so choose), have your wedding party help you pump them up the day prior, and get ready for an interactive, playful send-off that won’t break the bank.

5. Maracas or Tambourines

Incorporate a musical component into your wedding exit with maracas and tambourines for guests—which can double as party favors, might I add. It’s super fun for guests (especially the kids), but keep in mind, it can be a tad more expensive.

6. Floral Toss

Spread a little love for the environment with a natural, eco-friendly exit toss. We’re talking lavender, rose petals, jasmine, eucalyptus, dried flowers—the options are endless (and fragrant).

7. Human Tunnel

Have a tight wedding budget? Save a little money and recruit your guests for a zero-dollar wedding send-off. Daytime, nighttime—the human tunnel makes for some epic wedding photos at any hour (at least when planned and executed properly).

8. Smoke Bombs

Use colorful smoke bombs to create a thick wall of smoke to break through with your partner in crime. Talk about a dramatic exit photo! Unlike many of the other exit options, smoke bombs are an excellent choice for daytime send-offs.

NOTE: No matter what you do, make sure you check with your venue to see what is and isn’t allowed on the property.
