Masako Formals

Masako Formals was opened 39 years ago in Ala Moana in 1977, by Fumiko Okimoto at the brave age of 50 with her daughter Kumi. The mother-daughter duo moved from Japan to Honolulu with the dream of helping local women in Hawaii with their weddings. Now co-running the store with her husband Donald Okimoto, Kumi is involved in every level of the business — from traveling to designer houses around the world to select our inventory, to assisting with wedding ceremonies all over the island — you may even find her checking in on a first dress fitting appointment here in our shop. Kumi’s hard work ethic combined with a laid back style defines the Masako Formals experience. We hope you always feel welcome in our shop, and enjoy a relaxed dress-shopping experience!
