Cupron: Using Copper in the Fight Against Germs
Because of recent events, the world has been desperately searching for alternative ways to combat bacteria and viruses. After that Cupron received the only EPA Public Health Claim ever on antifungal fibers.
Starting in 2012, Cupron began partnering with hospitals to test their hypothesis that surrounding patients with self-sanitizing patient gowns, bed linens, and hard surfaces would lower healthcare-associated infections (HAI) rates and improve safety.
Since then, 5 outcome-based studies involving Cupron have been published showcasing how Cupron products are able to give an extra layer of protection to patients that complement standard laundering, room cleaning, and infection control processes. As of February 2020, the healthcare partners of Cupron Medical Textiles have used their products for over 2.5 million patient days. Their products also boast multiple EPA Public Health Claims and registrations.
The products from Cupron are a different color due to their copper content which also makes sure they stand out from the standard white linens normally seen in healthcare facilities. Even though they have been enhanced with copper, there are no changes to the laundering process. The products retain efficiency for over 100 washes due to the nature of the technology and there is no concern with wastewater discharge. The linens and gowns are also Peroxide and bleach compatible.
Cupron is also known for its multiple partnerships with many well-known companies such as Kimberly-Clark, Unilever, Under Armour, Dr. Scholl’s, Carhartt, New Balance, Copper Sole, and Provonic thanks to their emphasis and copper’s ability to be antifungal, anti-odor, and enhance skin.
Products that Cupron manufacture include: reusable face masks, linens, such as top sheets, bottom sheets, draw sheets, and pillowcases, patient gowns, bath blankets, thermal blankets, bath towels, and washcloths.
Recently, Cupron Medical Textiles has partnered with Feeling Great Sleep Medical Center of Durham, NC, and HME Locations to distribute products to sleep medical centers and their patients.
